Semester 2 Courses – POK

Peace be upon you all!

The Bridging the Gap Organization’s Department of Educational Research and Resources Development embarked on teaching the Personal Obligatory Knowledge of Islam at the University of Cape Town in February.  The course entails matters of creed, jurisprudence ranging from cleanliness to the pilgrimage, sins of the various body parts, and some of the laws of dealings according to the School al-Shafi^iyy.

The course is open to members of all religious denominations.  It is being offered in the second semester with 2 parts as follows:-

All courses open to public and run through all teaching weeks of UCT 2nd semester. (i.e. 25 July – 20 October)

PART 1
For all new participants who have NOT attended the first semester and those wishing to recap on the first semester’s content.

Mondays (commencing 25 July 2011)
Meridian 1PM-2PM,  B115 – Beattie Building, UCT Upper Campus

PART 2
For participants who have completed the first semester’s content and wish to continue with the next part of the course.

Wednesdays (commencing 27 July 2011)
Meridian 1PM-2PM,  B115 – Beattie Building, UCT Upper Campus

Tajweed Class

The department will also be offering a Tajweed course focusing on the chapters of the Qur’an that should be known by necessity and other oft-recited chapters.  The course ensures a firm grounding in theoretical Tajweed with a continuous emphasis on oral/practical sessions.

Tuesdays & Thursdays (commencing 26 July 2011)
Meridian 1PM-2PM,  B114 – Beattie Building, UCT Upper Campus

Donation (used for purchasing course materials): Once-off R30 per course, this may be paid at any time during the course. However, it is preferred that participants who can afford to pay do so early.

    Assalamu Alaykum Sister,

    Please accept our sincere apologies for the delay in responding to query.

    The course ran in the first semester of 2012 on the Upper Campus of UCT. There are video lectures and resources available at the link below.

    The course should run in the 2013 academic cycle again. A hiefth program has also recently been launched on campus.
